price discrepency between PC2100 & PC2700 ddr ???

Is this a suppy / demand discrepency ?
@ Tigerdirect they are selling Ultra 256mb PC2100 DDR 266mhz for $24.99 and PNY 256mb PC27oo DDR 333Mhz memory for $22.99

faster memory for cheaper ? Is Ultra brand a better quality - seems like an obvious no brainer, unless I'm missing something.

I would go for the pc2700, if they guarantee it to work with your motherboard. Generic memory usually doesn't come with a compatability guarantee. That's one reason it's so cheap. I use generic pc3500 memory, which runs fine at 400. I would also look at the chipsets. Winbond "b" and hynix are good chips.
