You're right. I came in hoping to find some info on "Price cuts for 4800 series" (Go figure...it's the thread title), and all I found was a flame war that sounds more like P&N than Video Cards and Graphics.

Some see it as desperation .. others see it as a sign that AMD is "winning"

imo, whatever it is - it is good for the consumer atm

a good time to upgrade graphs to Powerful for relatively cheap
