Price Comparison (939 vs. 754)

Hi, I was looking at processors at Newegg just a few minutes ago, and I noticed that the 3000+ Socket 939 is selling for almost the same retail price as the 754:

939:

745:
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=19-103-486&depa=1

It doesn't make much sense, and when I look at the 939 it reads that the operating GHZ is 1.8 opposed to the 754's 2.0. Also the OEM version of the 939 3000+ costs 10 dollars more than retail? Is this a mistake of labeling the 2800+ as a 3000+, or am I missing something?

The clock speed is lower on the s939 because the dual channel memory controller roughly makes up the difference in clock speed between the two chips. Overall performance is pretty similar (similar enough to give them the same name, in AMD's PR-opinion). Neither chip is mislabelled.

Prices on retail/OEM are sometimes confusing because they don't necessarily come from the same channel, so the retailer may have actually paid more for the OEM chips, and is unwilling to sell them cheaper.
