Price check: AK47

Question for the gun nuts - how much does a no frills AK47 go for? A buddy of mine is selling off his AK47 for about $200-$250. I'm not too familiar with guns in general. I don't know the manufacturer but he says it's in pretty good condition. Is that a decent/good price for it?

200 - 250 will buy you a nice AK AEG...but in terms of real guns it'll barely fetch you a pistol.

You sure it's an AK and not some knockoff? Real AK-47s go for a couple grand but you can get a Norinco clone for a couple hundred (I have one).

A real AK-47 in the US is too expensive. The Soviet produced millions of these for its armed forces and its allies for cheap. Knockoffs from China, Romania and other countries are still pretty good.

it just depends on the model , brand , were it was made, when it was made.

semi-auto I take it, full autos are illegal in most states and are exspensive along with permits and legal hassle

I have a few mak90's semi autos

Mak 90, WASR, VEPR, what is it? What country?

Its worth $200 if its in decent shape, you could sell that for $400 at the gun show to at least one member of a shady ethnic group.

If it's a hesse, dont buy it unless you plan on selling it for $300.

You say full auto is illegal in most states. How many is "most"? Over 25? Over 10? Over 30?

What permits and legal hassles do I have to go through?

Most=almost all states.

unsure which states there illegal in, they were legal in Wisconsin last I knew. you will have to check the latest BATF rules and state laws, if you have a gun dealer liscence it's a different story

full auto isn't worth the money and hassle

taking a wild guess I bet at least 50 percent of the states, but?

I think you're way off, 50% seems high. And you dont need a permit - you purchase a $200 TAX STAMP good until you are dead.

States that DO NOT ALLOW machinegun ownership:

Delaware
Hawaii
Iowa
Iliinois
Kansas
New York
Rhode Island
Washington

Thats looks like 8 to me, and Wisconsin residents CAN own machineguns.

I think in Counter Strike it costs about $2,500 so it's definitely a good deal

HAHA...

Seriously though, there are many different countries that have produced AK's. They also look similar to an SKS. Depending on the country of origin, yes that is a valid price. Probably Chinese or some other country along those lines.

I'll lay odds it is Romanian or possibly Chinese.

In either case, 200-250 is definately a more than good price provided nothing is wrong with it.
