**4/15 - Prey is coming, for real
At first glance looking like a domain squatter page, a visit to Prey.com will actually show you a very brief Flash animation with the tag line "Earth's Savior Doesn't Want The Job". A quick WHOIS reveals the domain is owned by Take 2 Games, and a view source on the page shows a line of binary code. Translated, it says "Hiding things in the source code is so 20th century. If you're looking for more info: PC Gamer. June issue. Worldwide debut". So it looks like the rumors were right, Prey is back in development, and we'll be hearing about it very soon.

I'm excited! :)

**4/5 - ..AND SO IT BEGINS**

Well, here we go again guys! It's the official E3 thread. I'm working a different schedule than last year, but I will try to keep as much info inside it as possible. Feel free to post interesting tid-bits or links here as well and I'll try to put them in the OP. Lets start this off with something really interesting and should spark some controversy.

The show's biggest surprise, though, will likely be the revelation of "Prey". Gamers first
heard of "Prey" in 1997. The game, originally about a Native American who fights several nefarious alien races, was thought to be cancelled, but quietly restarted a few years ago. The new version will use the "Doom 3" graphics engine and is said to be a visually striking title. There's no word on whether the story has changed.

3D Realms, makers of the popular "Duke Nukem" series, originally worked on "Prey," but word is they have handed development to a third party and are overseeing work on the game. Take Two Interactive Software (Research) is the likely publisher for the game, given its relationship with 3D Realms, but has not made any announcements.

Yeah, I remember seeing a few screenshots here and there back in the day (when I was like 14 :p). I think it would be great if they've revived it, it would certainly be something different in the gaming world.

Not to mention I still haven't given up all hope on Duke Nukem Forever. :p

Niether have I. I find it interesting that they're going to be using the Doom 3 engine for PRey though. Hrm.....

Well, maybe they just wanted something more advanced than the Unreal Engine (I assume they're almost certainly still using version 2 for DNF), and UE3 is not quite ready yet? I don't know, it is interesting.

I never had a Voodoo 2 so it may not have looked that good. I got suckered into a Voodoo Rush :| damn 3dfx! But hey, it would have been pretty darn revolutionary, now it's just kinda neat. Still, not many games do deformable geometry though.

That would have been awesome. (Well, I would have struggled with my P166 and S3 Virge though :p)

Another thing I noticed - when I was watching that interview video you linked to, I felt/remembered some of the excitement I used to feel when looking at previews/info about upcoming games when I was younger. I haven't really been feeling much of that lately...

War, I'll be at the show again this year, and I'll have my laptop with me this time, so I'll send some updates to you for this thread....

I'm still waiting to see if we hear/see anything about DNF - Broussard has given some pretty strong hints that he has some sort of surprise in hand, but we'll see...

Quake 4, Stalker, FEAR - these are all known titles, it will be interesting if CoD2 is there at all, and other surprises....

Since I'm a WoW addict now, I'll be bugging the folks from Blizzard, who stay in a hotel right by mine every year, about WoW expansion/upgrade info!

I will be there too, my 4th show! I can't wait. Maybe there will be something as exciting as the Phantom this year.

let's hope Prey doesn't become another half-life with their "fully interactive levels."

"I'm running a 266 with a voodoo 2" WHAT?! Thats crazy!

I'm going to E3 this year so I will check that out for sure!

Also PM me if any of you want me to check out any games that you want to know more about. I'm bringing my video and digi cam with me so I'll have tons to show.

I may start a "what you want to see at E3 thread" if ppl want.

That's cool. :)

Like I said, I'd love to go myself, but that would be several hundred dollars that I already have earmarked for a major computer upgrade this summer :p

Prey has amazing 4d technology! Watch as you shoot down a hallway and hit yourself in the bum! 20 years in the making! Look for it in 2018!

Wow, talk about some game gestation: 1998 to today. So this meanPrey has out DNFed DNF!

And both games are associated with 3DRealms. What's up with those guys? and how do they stay in business for years on end w/o releasing these games they are allegedly working on? Great studios like Looking Glass released awesome games year after year and still went under...
