The upgraded engine, which is being previewed in Pebble Beach this weekend, pumps the numbers up to 425 hp - 25 more than the new, sixth-generation Corvette, incidentally - and 420 lb-ft. "When we first went down the 6.1-liter path," admits Knott, "our targets were a lot lower." Not that he's complaining. The 6.1-liter version of the HEMI will help Chrysler dramatically differentiate the new 300C SRT-8 from the 5.7-liter version of the car.

I'll buy your wife for that amount! :D

But dear god, that is fvcking sexy. The 20" wheels look right at home. Wonder how much power the 6.2 Hurricane is going to put out - it's supposed to "challenge" the 6.1 Hemi.

Here ya go

I know! They've been teasing us with this thing for YEARS. Will they ever get around to giving it the production go ahead?

Maybe some people want the best of both worlds?
At least I know I do

Bset of both worlds?
having a sport tuned suspension kills the cushy ride, that the 300C seems to be shooting for. Looks wise atleast.

It doesn't look like a sports car or a sports sedan. It looks like a cruiser and that's the way I feel it should be.

Then buy the 300C with the 5.7. This won?t take over the current, luxury conscious 300c.

I was thinking the same thing, the 300c would make a great convertible.

I heard a coupe and a convertible version of the 300 for 2006.

I'm looking forward to the Dodge Charger in January or so.

You serious? :Q That is... delicious.

And that Hemi C convertible, damn. That's the first time I saw that thing. It's like a 300M mated with a Sebring and somehow spawned a V8 bastard child.

I want one. And, by the time I'm finished paying for my current car, they might even be in my used price range :p

The "normal" Hemi that's in the 300C has a cylinder disengagement system that shuts off a couple cylinders to increase highway milage...it was up to around 25MPG which isn't bad for an automatic transmission mounted to a tireshredding V8.

I don't know if the SRT version does that or not.

BFD. The 300C weighs nearly 1000 pounds more, has an automatic transmission, and doesn't have to have the piss wrung out of it to get it's speed.

You won't see people cross shopping a 300c with a STI. Two completely different vehicles.
