Preventing shaving bumps

Ever time I shave, my neck really likes to break out. This has really discourage me from shaving daily. What do you guys use after you shave to try and prevent this? I've tried using some 5% benzoyl peroxide cream (ie clearasil) but that didn't really help. I heard somewhere that using "red-eye" solution helps, but I think that is more an urban legend?

Any tips?? 😀

Hmmm are you black?

But seriously, it's an issue that plagues that black male community. Next time you are at Walmart take a look at the black shaving products. The bump stopper products will help you out. (They help with acne too).

Only shave the area once. Going over the same spot a couple times is what makes me break out real bad.

I just kept shaving through the pain and my skin got used to it pretty quickly. Switching from a regular shaving cream to a gel-based solution made it a lot smoother too. I've actually tried to scale back to shaving just every other day now since nobody at my office seems to mind if I have whiskers every other day (so long as I don't have a client meeting.)

What I do now is use Gel and a Mach3 and actually shave in the shower. Electric razors have the same effect, too.

I will try some of products for people w/ curly hair I might just bite the bullet and do it everyday and hope I get used to it.
