I've notice lately that it looks like barbed wire has been wrapped around my neck. I have lots of red, irritated bumps from shaving.

I always shave after a shower so the hairs are soft and I use lots of Gillette Edge gel with my Mach 3 and always use sharp blades. I shave with the grain (top to bottom). I use an after shave lotion. I don't know what else I can do. Help ATOT!

Yeah warm to hot water mostly. I shave before the shower usually.

Also how often are you shaving. Try lightening up on your routine, skip a day or two. Or go to the Clinique counter at your local mall and get some shaving stuff from them.

Shave in the shower (assuming you take warm showers). Do it last, after the rest of your shower routine.

I don't ever use shaving cream and I can shave daily without any razor burn. I use a triple blade gilette (more than three is a waste, less than three doesn't shave as well, scientists have actually demonstrated why three is better than two or one). The problem is missing some spots if you don't have a mirror. It's pretty easy to get it all once you get the hang of things (and you can always do spot shaving after the fact).

Recently I've been showering about once a week out of laziness. It gets so damn itchy...

splash your entire face with very warm water before shaving. then, when you are done, splash with cold water.
you open your pores with the warm water, allowing better access to the hair, and the cold water helps close them. it definitely seems to help me. even without the warm water first, the cold water is key.

that, and an aftershave lotion. The only burn I get, using my electric razor, is on my neck. During pt, the sweat just stings like crazy. Using cold water after shaving, and then putting on lotion, prevents that burn.
