My system hangs periodically. My best guess is that the system is going from 600MHz -> 1.7GHz and back down again. How can I prevent this clock change from happening?

I'm using an Acer TMC303XMi-G - Phoenix NetBios 4 Rev 6, Intel 855GM chipset and PM 735 (1.7GHz Dothan). I'm running Windows XP with SP2 installed.

I don't have the Always On option available from the Power Control applet. That's the way to disable Speed Step that I've found by searching. Any other ways of doing it?

on my aopen I had two choices
one is in the bios

or using their aopen software and checking off the box

I guess you dont have the software so I guess the only option is through the bios

Thanks. For some reason the NoteBook manager software that came with the system had the Always On profile even though the control panel didn't. I'll probably go ahead and do it through the BIOS as well to be sure.
