Prevalence of Vim/Emacs?

Are these text editors used by many software developers? It seems nowadays, people use a feature-rich IDE such as Eclipse or Visual Studio or more orthodox text editors.

They're still used pretty heavily, at least in the FLOSS development circles. Most interviews with open source developers I've heard or read mention vi, vim, emacs, or mg as their primary editors.
