i built a computer 2 summers ago
its an AMD

all worked perfectly until...

until 5 days ago...im on the comp...it just freezes...i turn it off turn it back on and im gettin a lockup at the post screen and 2 lights on the diagnostic thing were on and it was at processor initialization...so i think thats odd and ill fix it the next day....next day i turn it on ....no video....i also notice that the fan on my video card isnt spinning

i replace the video card with a known working video card...fan spins...but still no picture

thats where im at now....what could be the problem here? thanks so much

Do the case fans spins? Reset the bios to default settings and try again. Do you hear any beeps? Make sure the video card is seated all the way. Some mobo requires a lot of force to seat properly.

thanks
i tried 2 differnet monitors, 2 different video cards

all fans are alright and no beeps only those diagnostic lights that say its initializing processor or something like that...

i really don't know what to do...could it just be something on the mobo that blew out? so confused ive never seen a problem like htis

bump for any new ideas? im kinda desperate here

even if i was about to go buy something new what should i get....mobo?

Is it an NF2 motherboard? A lot of them are getting bad capacitors around now. Mine was 2.5 years old 2 weeks ago when it kicked the bucket.

I RMA-ed my board to Epox about a week ago and I'll get a replacement back... eventually🙂

I just decided it was a sign to upgrade to A64 hehe.

This might not be your issue, but it's a good possibility.

i checked for leaking capacitors...they all look alright

would memory or power supply make it not show video? wouldnt that just lock it at post screeen? im running 2x512 sticks of ram and the power supply that came with the x-dreamer case

This is EXACTLY the same problem I have!!!!

Crazy. I'll look at my caps tonight too. I've tried multiple vid cards, multiple ram, etc with no luck. I'll certainly let you know if I get mine going again.
