Pretty decent deal on Dell Dim 4600

This is carried over from another thread I started. I was comparing a home built system versus Dell...this is the deal that is on the table for me right now...seems pretty good:

Dell Dimension 4600
2.4ghz (800FSB, 865PE chipset)
256mb RAM (400mhz)
4X DVD+RW/CD-RW
40GB HD 7200 RPM
ATI Radeon 9800 (non pro)
onboard sound, 10/100 NIC
no speakers
no monitor
standards KB and mouse
1yr warranty


This all came to 809. Free shipping, minus 150 MIR, comes to 659 + tax (Dell SB charges tax). I know this is not as good as some of the deals that have come through here, but was good option for me, as I already have a great monitor and speakers, and this would get me a decent mid level gaming system, with a pretty darn good video card.

This could go lower? with stackable % off coupons? Which reminds me...I'd like to take this minute to make a lame attempt at begging, and ask anyone with an extra Dell SB coupon to send one my way?

I configured the same system and got $919 as the total. Can you post better details on how you got this price, or perhaps a link to it?

I priced out the same deal I got, and came up 200 bucks higher

I'm glad I got in on it...and I got a 5% off coupon from a generous member here. I'll be sure to return the favor to another needy person if I ever get any coupons from Dell SB.

I also ended up taking advantage of the 19" (1901) FP monitor, at 25% off...very nice deal indeed...supposedly, the rep had to get approval from his manager to get it put through at that price.

BTW, of some small interest to me, but may be worth it to others...the rep said that Dell is pushing their hubs and switches..and will practically give them away. Before I used my 5% off coupon, he was going to throw in an port switch for free He said he couldn't do it after the 5%off...but anyone buying dell SB may want to inquire on this unofficial promotion.
