I threw a cheap heatsink (Coolermaster) into my system. And it gets hotter during this hot summer( full load around 54C / idle 48C / case 40C ) when clocked @140M FSB without bumping core voltage. So I lowed the core voltage from 1.75v to 1.65v and set the FSB default @ 133. The reading of core voltage is 1.63v and system stable after 2 hours prime95. Then I tried to up FSB to 140 and system became unstable enough. Bump voltage to 1.66v and the system survives after 6 hour prime 95. Now temp dropped by 3- 4C.

Look like the default core voltage of 1.75v is more than enough for the Athlon XP clocked below 1600 or so.

My 2000+ is completely stable at 1.68 volts in prime 95. had it at 1.65 as well with no issues either but it is plenty cool at 1.68 so i left it there.

I've had my 1.4tbird at 1.6 for a month or so now...not stable at 1.5, but was fine at 1.55 for the limited time I tried it there...just left it at 1.6 though

Hey Guys, how are you doing? Well, After reading fatbrain's article. I decided to go home and try it to, I had my Core voltage set to 1.770 and my Temps were at idle 45.50 and full at 52.00 and case temp was 31C so I started to drop the Core voltage. I dropped it to 1.700 and ran Prime95 for 6 hours and it dropped my temp to 43.50C idle and system temp was 30.50 so it dropped -2 degrees and then I started surfing the internet while Prime95 running and Stable no errors. Then I dropped it to 1.650 but I don't think it made that much of a difference, After 5 hours of Prime95 the Cpu temp was at 52.00 and case temp was 30.00 and idling now at 42.50-43.00C. I'm sure if I get a better HSF the CPU temp will drop even lower. Just wanted to share this with you guys.
