Pressing Send to e-file your taxes is nerve wrecking

Filed an extension.
Finished the taxes last week but wont send/e-file till Oct 14.

Pressing that Send button gives me anxiety every year even though i've never been audited.
But waiting till almost the last day and going up against the Deadline date forces me to send it.

I feel like I'd get more anxiety from waiting to near the deadline to send vs just sending it in early. Anxiety from - "this program is going to have some f*** up and fail to send" as the clock counts down to 0, leaving not much time to seek an alternative route of submission.

I also just don't have particularly complicated taxes, or try to do fancy things, so filing with some software is largely NBD after I double and triple check that I input numbers properly.

This is why I leave that stuff to the pros. There are certain things like electrical and plumbing and even structural work that I trust myself to do, but taxes, hell no.

Agreed, our guy has saved us 10 times what we've paid him.

I print the 40+ pages every year and mail it in in a Lizzo thick envelope. I know they received em as they cash my check.

Why would someone wait to file taxes until the last minute? I always file mine as soon as I have all my stuff ready.

The OP answered the question.

Same, takes like an hour, no fuss no muss.
I invest with Betterment. Which is great except they invest in a few dozen funds and rebalance automatically a few times a year. So my taxable account has up to hundreds of transactions. Worse, my tax filing software makes me confirm each and every one, even though it imports the list perfectly.

Still, I put off my state taxes, which really do take just an hour. 🤷‍♂️
