Michael Larson's Streak

In the fall of 1983 an Ohio man, Michael Larsen, put together an astounding run on the television game show program Press Your Luck. He did so by memorizing the sequences by which the various prize squares lit up on the game board, allowing him to time his button presses to coincide with the lights' stopping on the most advantageous squares.

Wow.

He seemed like the kind of guy that had nothing to do with his life except watch day-time game shows. :)

Didn't yhis guy end up going bankrupt later? Something about buying thousands of $1 bills from the local bank in order to win some radio contest involving serial numbers on dollar bills. His home was burglarized and the stacks of bills were taken. I also think he is now dead.

It's a good documentary, I have a full copy of it in a 175MB Quicktime movie if anyone is interested.
