"China reached into the US heartland in its escalating trade war over President Donald Trump's tariffs, using an advertising supplement in Iowa's largest newspaper to highlight the impact on the state's soybean farmers as "the fruit of a president's folly.''"

"Iowa has been especially hard hit by Trump's trade policies and retaliation by China and other countries, according to a recent US Chamber of Commerce campaign against the duties highlighting the impact by state."

Whose propaganda to believe? This trade war thing is very confusing if only the EU trade delegation could explain it with brightly coloured cards and small words.

Very interesting that a foreign government is floating propaganda in our media trying to effect politics. Sounds familiar..

this is the kind of stuff Trumpettes ignore when they say "The Economy is Great! Trump is Winning!"

The difference is though the Chinese paid for the advertising and also clearly stated that they are the ones paying for it. Whereas the Russians used military intelligence operatives to carry out their influence operations.

So everything China has done is above board. Russia won't even admit to their clandestine role in influencing US elections.

"The four-page section in Sunday's Des Moines Register, which carried the label "paid for and prepared solely by China Daily, an official publication of the People's Republic of China," featured such articles as one outlining how the trade dispute is forcing Chinese importers to turn to South America instead of the US for soybeans."

Official adverts in a newspaper. Yeah, exactly the same as Russia. C'mon dude. You're not even trying here.

Sorry I didn’t realize we were keeping it somber and super cereal in here. What about the winners he picked, can I joke about them?

Is english your primary language?

Why don't you go and lick a ball bag. You fuck nut. ;)

EDIT: Oh. I think this thread is about to devolve severely.

Only because of your preoccupation with male on male sexual activity. Enough.

Alright enough.

Wow. Shorty really triggered you. You seem to have a lot of trouble with appropriate language choices. Perhaps a bit of time off will help with that.

Nonononono NO NOT the same kind af animal for one simple reason..Not covert. There is no false pretence here. China has a right to speak its mind? Even if that right does not fully extend to the private citizen but thats another matter.

(this is what we call a strawman right? or (false?) pretence?)

Indeed it does, a foreign operative named Trump has been tweeting, I hear.

Also, the comparison I just made is as valid as the one you just made because this is fucking nothing compared to the .co sites that were entire false sites that were repeated for their fake news (I kind of think if I were to search for you repeating one of those sites news I'd find several posts from you doing so, what do you think?) or the massive influence of literally millions of separate users all employed by one single entity.

A friend of who lives in Switzerland asked if we could pretty fucking please take back Bannon...

Made me think of you and realibrad, I mean if you would adopt him he could feed you his lines directly and save all of you a lot of time and in the meantime Europe would get a break from this Russian/Bannon influence.

All it does is reinforce my belief that China is in a far more vulnerable political and economic position to engage in a trade war than vice-versa. No doubt this will have some impact on the US economy, especially long term, but China relies on the United States buying $500B+ worth of goods a year, and that's a customer that is impossible to replace in the near-term. The United States on the other hand can more easily weather this and find new markets to purchase from, or use its industrial capacity to produce it themselves.

Something to consider - Car prices will likely increase as a result of these tariffs. But, vehicles are cheap enough these days that people will go out and buy a new car before investing a few grand to maintain it properly. If these tariffs hold long term, it's going to be great business for vehicle repair shops.

This is essentially a tax on the poor and middle class. China doesn't pay the tariffs. We do. Upper class doesn't care about an extra 10% on goods. Just a nuisance for upper class vs pricing the middle and lower class possibly out of the market for buying more crap. What could possibly go wrong with this?

How are they more vulnerable than us? We are the ones funding an entire economy from borrowed money/debt. We are in a giant bubble. They are lending us money. Not the other way around. This is going to put a big hurt on the average household. We are taking on more debt than ever. The average American family is in debt up to their ears. You think they are in a place to pay 10 to possibly 20 percent more for tariffs. Remember brick and mortar almost being dead before the govt pumped all the Chinese money into the economy? Now imagine that but this time even worse because no one is buying not because of online being cheaper but because they can't afford either.
