@eskimospy: But the original post of this thread is not about war crimes. It smuggles Judaism as a religion and the Jews undifferentiated into the conflicts, then moves the goal post towards the latter.

I suppose one could make an argument that Judaism is an inherently self-contradictory and violence-inducing belief system (which, frankly, can be made with regard to any religion) but the original post is clearly not intended as such.

I didn't get that at all, what I got was that the president was appalled at the reprehensible behavior of the people of Israel even with such a powerful moral compass as the teachings of Judaism pulling them the other way.

No anti-semitism found.

I meant original post of the original post, not the original article quoted in the original post. Specifically,

As I have said, it is very sad how the followers of such a moral religion as Judaism have turned into what they have. But every group of people has its men and women of conscience.

Again, no anti-semitism found. He's saying that Judaism is a moral and good thing, but these particular followers of it have fallen into immorality. That's not all Jews or all semites, it's these people in particular.

I happen to agree with him.

Is there a precise definition of "anti-semetic / anti-semitism"?
Seems to be used pretty wildly as an infantile trump-card type retort.

funny... why aren't people being labeled as anti-italians and anti-uraguyan when making comments critical to those countries.

There is no reason to bring in Judaism or Jews to criticize Israel's actions. I am no fan of those myself, but that does not prevent me from detecting dangerous bias in this thread.

When you criticize Barack Obama you can't help but insinuate his racial background (or its proxy)
When you criticize Hillary Clinton you can't help but talk about female bodies. Citizens United, the group that got famous for criticizing Clinton and winning a suit at the court, their original name was Citizens United Not Timid.

When you criticize Israel's past and present policies, you want to point out the religion and the Jews around you.

All these are telltale signs of bias about which I myself may have not been innocent, but have been trying to distance myself from.

But how is it a bias against Judaism when it is in the context of Judaism being good?

Do you see something offensive when Jeb Bush made a comment, "We should welcome immigrants. Hispanics are very fertile people."

I have no doubt Jeb Bush had nothing but pure intention, far from bigotry. But nevertheless there are multiple insensitivities in that statement. I will try to get back to this when I have time. Gotta log off for now.

A rather nefarious example would be:

"Blacks are family-oriented people. The recognize the importance of family. They also are debout church-goers. It is sad that these exemplary people are enslaving themselves with abortions."

Blah blah.. stated by Tony Perkins of Family Research Council.

That's concern trolling. I don't believe the president of Israel is concern trolling himself.

Lopri, I think you are either being super sensitive or taking things out of context.

Or

Doing what is usually done when Israel is criticized.

I don't know which one it is
