The fuck you do. Take a picture of a $4.50 gas station. Highest prices downtown for premium are like $3.80-3.90, and averages have been falling.

Wow...you people are getting fucked in the ass. I filled up this morning for $2.73 down from a high of $2.86 a couple of weeks ago.

Dave is the type of person who would go inside the gas station and pre-pay $4.50/gallon in cash just to come here and bitch.

Doubt it. He probably goes in there and bitches to them about the evil republicans and asks for a discount because he is one of the good guys.

Improve education ? NC is laying off 1000 teachers from public schools and another 1000 from colleges. We lost 3200 last year and canceled foreign language classes in all but high school.
Economy is improving ? NC is considering raising taxes to avoid running out of money . Budget is 20% short.

all talk no proof

Seems NC is your problem, not Obama/Feds.

Two of those things are not like the other.
Agreed, with respect to CO2 emissions. Nuclear requires no sequestration to avoid CO2 production. On the other hand, nuclear requires a great deal of cooling water and adds a great deal of heat to that cooling water, changing (sometimes radically, considering the impoundment required) the ecosystem into which it is dumped. There are no absolutely clean energy sources, solar probably being the cleanest, but solar alone won't replace oil. And CO2 production is not the end-all, be-all of pollution.

It seems I won by ignoring the whole thing.
It's worth a read, if not a couple hours' listening time.

Yah...I caught a couple of those mentioned.

Obama spoke ambitiously of putting money into roads, research, education, efficient cars, high-speed rail and other initiatives in his(speech). He pointed to the transportation and construction projects of the last two years and proposed "we redouble these efforts." He coupled this with a call to "freeze annual domestic spending for the next five years."

and

For example, he said he wants to eliminate "billions in dollars we currently give to oil companies." Yet he made a similar proposal last year that went nowhere. He sought $36.5 billion in tax increases on oil and gas companies over the next decade, but Congress largely ignored the request, even though Democrats were then in charge of both houses of Congress.

He sure is charismatic when he's reading those teleprompters though.

The problem with solar is the cost to implement. Obama made a lot of comments about the roofing guys making a business out of solar roofing tiles but he didn't reveal how much of that is subsidized by the government and how much it cost taxpayers.

Are you that dense to believe that the fed has no impact on states ?

lol, fail. It was NC who fired the Teachers, it is NC having the Budget Shortfall, the Economy is improving, if not in NC, probably NCs fault or just bad luck.

Saw this in the free press earlier this week, since they're from Michigan. Luma Resources "...received $750,000 in grants and low-interest loans from the federal recovery act to convert half of the Allen family's residential roofing business into a facility to make solar shingles for new homes." It sounds like it's still a pretty small operation, they only hired 20 new employees along with the conversion. Hard to say.

Still, baseload power is a necessity, and solar and wind can't provide it. But they can supplement.

So you don't have any idea. It's called unfunded or underfunded federal mandates. The states have to pay for them so they have to cut elsewhere.

Is that the cause of NCs Budget Shortfall?

Largely. Mandates make up a huge proportion of budgets. In NY the single biggest item is Medicaid and still growing is mandated.

The cost of federal compliance is incredible, and constitutes a very large portion of a states budget. When you hear "cutting the federal budget" that is polispeak for "we're going to have the states pick up the tab".

If I were to make a change in how DC does budgets I'd say that they themselves have to fund all mandates. No "hide the weenie"
