http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/n...top-ten-insults-against-britain-2011-edition/

1. Siding with Argentina over the Falklands
2. Calling France America’s strongest ally
3. Downgrading the Special Relationship
4. Supporting a federal Europe and undercutting British sovereignty
5. Betraying Britain to appease Moscow over the New START Treaty
6. Placing a “boot on the throat” of BP
7. Throwing Churchill out of the Oval Office
8. DVDs for the Prime Minister
9. Insulting words from the State Department
10. Undermining British influence in NATO

Detailed explanations of each are provided at the link above but I have to say seeing them all together is a little surprising and one has to wonder what's his beef with the UK?

Oh and on top all of that the more recent ones like him toasting the Queen during their national anthem, trying to do an Irish accent (poorly) and the presidential limo (aka the Beast) getting hung up on an Irish road and need a tow truck to get moving again and siging the guest book with the year 2008 and not 2011 it seems apparent that The Big O and the UK don't mesh well.

Blair's idea was that if Britain was America's #1 bitch, it would get the US to do it's bidding when it needed to. Turns out, they just get treated like a bitch.

All of that pales in comparison to toasting the Queen BEFORE the band played God Save The Queen.

It is amazing how careful Obama is not to insult Muslims and Islamic nations, but seems to have no trouble slamming our allies. He's too calculated for it to be an 'accident'.

I'm amazed that the UK press isn't putting down "Not acknowledging that our Queen and her royal bloodline is a caste above all else" as one of the insults.

Sorry if our President doesn't believe in casteism.

The only people who see any issues in these visits are people who already hate Obama and people who already hate the UK. The rest of the world just sees a normal diplomatic visit between close allies.

He explained it in Dreams From My Father. His grandfather was was imprisoned by the British during their colonial rule of Kenya for being a political dissident or something, and his hatred for the British was passed down to Obama Sr. and himself.

Signing the guest with the date of 2008 strikes me as very odd.

I could see 2010, even though it's a bit late in the year to keep making that mistake. But 2008?

I wonder if the guy's burnt out or on meds.

His forgetfullness at the toast only adds to it.

BTW: I don't think he did these things to offend the UK.

You consistently display a superficial knowledge to support your firmly held beliefs. Have you in fact even read Dreams From My Father? I have. Obama really had no relationship at all with his father-he abandoned the family shortly after birth and Obama only saw him once more in his life. The impression I got (reading between the lines) of Obama's father is that he was a self-important ass who made very little out of his life because he could not control his temper and constantly pushed his superiority over others less educated-including his superiors.

So Obama's hatred of the British Empire comes from his paternal grandfather with whom he had no contact via his father, with whom he had next to no contact? Yeah, right.

You weren't trolled by an Admin (as you'll find out in a moment) you were mocked by a fellow member of Anandtech.

Troll/Mock same thing when you don't even mention the OP. And my mistake, as the Administrator tag under your name made me think you were a site Admin.

Anyway I was really hoping the Political section here would be more discussion and less childish antics like in most sites only considering how strong the community is here, I was wrong. I'll stick to the Apple and Sport Sub as there will be no civil discussions are to be found in this section.

I was really hoping the Political section here would be more discussion...

While I do think Obama is trying to present a 'changed" USA, one that is more open to countries we haven't typical strongly associated with, and less dependant upon old allies, I don't think he has any particular problem with the UK. I.e., I'm not sold on any colonial resentment from his father or grandfather.

I do think he is far more ackward, and waaaaay less intelligent, slick and charismatic, than many initially gave him credit for. I think many of the items on your list are doofus type blunders by him or his staff, not intentional offenses.

I think his recent comments about Israel and '67 borders is another example of that. Apparently, he thinks he said the same thing as GWB and Bill Clinton. However, if you listend closely he glossed over some pretty dang important v to the Israelis, such as their security and just went to the '67 border part. Bush and Clinton both had plenty of caveats to their suggestion, Obama didn't. Clumsy, and his inexperience shows almost daily.

Try posting a thread were the topic is actually verifiable instead of some wingnut rhetoric and you'll get serious discussions.

For showing his alleged inexperience daily as you suggest he sure has been a lot more succesful with foriegn relations than his so called experienced predecessor.

So far I haven't seen any success in foreign relations. I haven't even heard of any Dems brag about any (other than a higher rating on popularity polls which I don't consider to be of any real import unless it can be proven to directly translate into something specifically beneficial to us).

Well, he is the guy who thought that there were 57 states in the US, so you can't really be surprised that he doesn't know what year it is.
