I'd say that the knowledge that it occurs/occured is common to many, but the specific companies is not.

Americans are morally superior, hence everytime they sell something to a despotic regime it is an act of charity, like a gas centrifuge that makes baby formula, or antrax cultures to aid foreign scientists in creating cures for AIDS, or aluminum tubes to construct hospitals out of.
