People seem to be giving Bush a lot of flak for going into Iraq because he said they have WMD and nothing ever showed up.

I believe that saying they had WMD was just an excuse to get into Iraq. Continuing on that, I believe that Bush looked at this very simply. Sadam and his sons are aweful people, terrorists, murderers that needed to be thrown out of power (being dead or alive). Some people say that he was looking for something to have his name tied to for fame. I say that if that is true, I don't believe it was main reason.

My question: What would people have supported Bush if he had just come out and said at the start "These people are dangerous and need to be removed. The potential threat these people have to humanity exceeds the necessity of proof"

Iraq seems to be looking better compared to a couple of months ago. Today, there is certainity as to where the country was headed.

seems being the key word. Really, the biggest mistake Bush and his administration made/are making in Iraq is their post Saddam planning. They totally screwed the pooch either by underestimating what would need to be done or by just being plain stupid.

Maybe he should have waited for the U.N.? Maybe he should have just waited? Maybe he should have stayed on extended vacation in Crawford until October 2004, then resign? Lots of maybes....

Off-topic slightly, but has anyone noticed we haven't had a US soldier death since Feb 17th? Or have I missed some...

That is good news indeed.

It's bad news, however, that that's considered good news. ;)

At least two crewmembers in an OH-58 helicopter were killed in a crash on the 25th of February. Helicopter likely ran into a power line pursuing some ground targets, but they are still doing an investigation.
