Doc gives prescription paper for you but you never get it at the pharmacy... is it good for only a certain amount of time ?

I had a prescription for some nose spray, but the doctor gave me 3 months of samples.

They still took the prescription after the 3 months (Eckerds).

Not sure how long they are good for.

Varies state by state, but usually the prescription is valid for one year from date of writing.

Controlled substances are different. Some states (NY being one) will allow you to fill it 30 days from date of issue.

Federal law states that controlled substance rxs (other than Schedule II drugs) are valid for 6 months from date of issue.
