I was just wondering, since I couldnt find anything on the main page.

Will the "pentium 5" need a new mobo just like the northwood did?

Intel released a statment in July saying that the Prescott's WILL be S478 but, that doesn't mean present mobos would work neccessarily................09 die and different voltage requirments would mean one heck of a bios update, but again, it is possible and Intel says the chips will be S478............article is buried over at Digitimes somewhere...................

exactley. Prescott will use the same Socket 478 as Northwood, but it may end up that it uses the same Socket 478 as the Coppermine and Tualatin P3/Celeron's used the same Socket 370. I just suspect that .09 micron will need very similar adjustments that .13 micron needed, although Intel may have had enough foresight to make Socket 478 .09 compatible. We shall see. Not to mention, we would need 533fsb Prescott's in other to work in 533fsb boards as well. Intel will prolly make 533fsb Prescott's as long as its the only thing keeping Prescott from being more compatible, but if other factors hamper Prescott compatibility then they will probably produce only 667fsb parts,.
