So i got a Abit IS7-E. I read some rumors that Prescotts will not be usable in the current 875/865 motherboards. Is this definitely a "NO". I heard that some MB manufactorers were advertising that they would work, then Intel changed the specs and now all the 875 owners are sh!t out of luck.

well this is what we know....

Digitimes is saying that: "Intel expects to introduce two platforms, Socket 478 and Socket 775, for its next-generation Prescott processors using the 90nm process"

The Socket 478 will be released Q4/03 and the Socket T LGA 775 (soket 775) H2/2004

so most likely no mobo's out there now will work with prescott. "Athlon 64 processors will also have two or three socket versions, the Socket 940/939 and Socket 754. The new platforms are expected to give motherboard makers greater difficulties in inventory management and marketing strategy from next quarter to the first quarter of 2004."

what a mess.
