Hello Friends of the forum, I plan to buy a processor prescott 2.8 or of 3.0 Ghz in socket 478, my question is:
Who has some of these processors like had solved the problem of the excessive heat, I don't have air conditioning in my room.
Thank you :)

There is no need to worry about "excessive" heat. While Prescott is indeed hotter than Northwood, it is not enough to worry about. If you have a good HSF, you will be fine.

Why not get a Northwood if you are really worried? You will most likely never notice the difference between the two, performance wise.

The Prescott shines in media encoding, if that is one of your hobbies.

Be careful not to get the 533 bus Prescotts. They lack hyperthreading.

only get a presscott if you are into media encoding as that guy said. if not, get a northwood or amd 64.

the heat produced by presscotts is twice that of the equivalent athlon 64, and it will cost more for your performance
