Dam I just DLed 3dmarks 2003 (build 330)

and scored whopping 1600 something......

WTF is wrong with my com?

I ve heard that this spec should easily hit 4000+

3.0e prescott
P4C800 Deluxe
Ti4800
2 modules of OCZ enhanced latency 512
10000 RPM WD raptor

This is REALLY disapointing,

YEs I flashed the BIOS.

You have no chance of hitting 4000....or even 2000 for that matter. Not with a GF4Ti.
Whoever told you that...

i thought any Geforce 4 will score low because it is not DX 9 compliant
exactly, GF FX (not the 5200! lol!) and ATI Radeon 9500-9800 will give you a 3x+ boost in your score just because they are DX9 compliant.

Actually this 5200 does 2000.

Where did he say he was using it as a guage of his ability to play games?

I've noticed people who score low always say "well... it really don't mean anything" 😉

i got the TI 4200 and the 2.8e
i get a little higher than you when overclocked to 3.2ghz+ (managed to get over 2k)
the prescott is just kinda weak
your video card will be the ultimate bottleneck in any gaming benchmark tho

Video definitely seems to have a bigger impact in 2003 over the 2001 benchmark. recent upgrades to my system had a bigger change in the 2001 numebrs over the 2003 numbers with the same 9700 PRO card going from a 2.66B at 3.0 to a 2.8C at 3.64.

The TI 4X00 series is not meant for 3dmark03 so u got about where I would think you would get. You need a DX9 card to get more than that.

Thank you for your thoughtful commnets guyz!

Time to upgrade my POS (piece of ShXX) card......

p.s. How about AQUAMARKS?

Get a Geforce FX 6800 and overclock your cpu to around 3.2GHZ and you should see 14,000 atleast.🙂

heh my comp is a strange one, I get an about-right 5500 or so 3dmark2003, but 14400 on 3dmark2001, which is a tad low. no biggie though 🙂

Athlon 2400+ @ 16x133
NF7-S
9800pro (stock)
balanced quality, 1024x768

Looks good to me--I'm suprised it got above 1200.

A Ti 4800 (or any of the real GF4s) is not a PoS. Unless you have $300 or more to burn, or play at 1280x1024 w/ high AA/AF, wait.

You got everything kind of current hardware except your video card. Think it's about 2yrs old already the ti 44** series

Don't upgrade your video card to satisfy a benchmark. If you are upgrading to make real applications (i.e. games) better, then go for it.

But don't obsess about a 3dMark score.

i put a fx5200 in my gf's computer
it performs about as good as my ti4200 (4800 cause the 8x)
just it let me see the nature scene and other stuff in 3dmark2k3 at like 6fps 🙂
the GF4 gets way more fps tho

i'm waiting till atleast after summer to upgrade 🙂
let these new cards roll out with 40+ GB/s of mem bandwidth
might even be worth waiting till dx10 cards roll out for prices to drop (definately for 90% of fx5600 and radeon 9600 and above owners imo)
