I was replacing the inverter on my wife's Presario V2000 tonight. A couple of the small, fine wires from the plug that connects the inverter to the video cable came out of the plastic harness when I unplugged the old inverter. I plugged in the new inverter. The computer still booted. Since I didn't have an extra video cable on hand, I tried slightly stripping the two free wires and inserting them into the pins on the plug for the new inverter. It still booted. Next thing I knew, I couldn't get the laptop to power on again. I wonder if I shorted something out by moving those two wires. I reseated the RAM and the battery. No power. The charging indicator LED will come on if I plug in the AC adapter. Any ideas on what went wrong? Is this salvageable?

Thanks!
