presario 2100Z price?

hi, since this is about a notebook, i thought this would be the best place.

this laptop is for my sister who will be using it for email/work at college. i'd prefer buying new to make it last longer, and i havent been following notebook prices.

the below system is $863 + tax + shipping - $100 rebate = ~866.

is this a good deal? mediocre? can easily do better? i can wait till mid-july so is it better to buy now or later? i welcome any suggestions and insights.

I have this machine and I think is is a great machine!

You can do it even better:

- Change the memory to 128 MB and save $50. Get 128 MB or 256 MB independently.
- Change the hard drive to 20GB unless she is positive she needs the space. If you want to give her more performance, get a travelstar 40gnx HD.
- The 2200+ CPU right now id the same price than the 2000+. Get the 2200+ or for $25 more the 2400+
- There is a free upgrade to 15" LCD.
- There is also a 10% OFF coupon. There is an additional academic 5%.

If you can wait, wait. You will get the same mnachine cheaper, or more machine for the same money.

I think that Athlon XP-M laptops are a great buy. My presario 2100z has been a really nice toy.

thanks for the advice. i think i'll wait a little longer before buying one of these. just as a note, i went to the hp site to find the free upgrades, but they werent there. am i missing something? i was reading at (a favorite hot deals site) about the 2100z deal, and it seemed like that coupon expired?
