i am thinking about buying vista ultimate soon and just want to confirm that you can reinstall the oem versiton if needed, we just need to call microsoft to activate right. also if i am making an image of the vista after i install so i don't have to completely reinstall, should i make the image before activation and driver installation or after activation

also if i get the 32bit oem version of vista ultimate will i be able to get 64 bit vista ultimate if i go to microsoft''s site

As my understanding goes, yes. It should be no problem to reinstall even after minor-medium hardware changes (maybe even major changes like motherboards).

I'd make the image after activation but before any further driver updates. Unless you specify Vista not to install drivers during install, it will most likely take care of all of your hardware at this point.

No. If you buy OEM, you'll have to buy the 64-bit version at OEM price seperately. But atleast then you'll have seperate keys from the 32-bit and 64-bit versions, unlike retail where you have only one key for both, and can only use one or the other, not both at the same time on seperate PC's (or dual-boot for that matter).
