Preparing a 1.6a for the Sunflower

I've got the retail fan and 1.6a chip new and still in the plastic, and a new AVC Sunflower. I have to say the Intel retail fan looks pretty hefty, but I've spent the $ for the AVC plus the AS3 already. Near as I can tell there is nothing on the bottom of the AVC or on top of the Intel chip (sorry to sound dense but it's the first time I've seen one). Should I attempt to clean these in anyway prior to putting the Artic Silver on the chip? I've read the Thermal Basics page, and I'm ok with using acetone, but if they are both brand new and I'm careful, shouldn't I just be able to apply and go?

Thanks!

you could...and if you want to be sure wear gloves so your oils from your skin dont dampen cpu thermal transfer.
