I know they have been around for a while.. just wondering where the best deals are and if there are any pitfalls to look out for.

Why not just get a real one and use the one-time use #s?

All I know is that they charge 5% or something to get one.

Iono, but I got like 200 bucks worth of em from work. An american express gift one and a visa one.

I usually just use my own card, but when you get em as gifts, sometiems its still a hassle when the clerk isn't smart enough to realize my name isn't "Cardholder" and I don't have ID saying such.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm not sure how much the american express one cost them, but the visa one costs like 5 bucks.

I have been using my credit card online for 3 years.....never a problem.

I've gotten those for test drive deals and such before, and most merchants don't accept them because they either have a numbering system that doesn't match regular credit cards, or the have no expiration date.

Yup. I've been using my credit card online for 6 or 7 years now and I've never had an issue. I only shop at reputable sites with secure connections.

I never had a problem online either.

In fact, I used my credit card in one tire shop in the bronx, AND THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE I EVER USED THE CARD IN PERSON, and two nights later, I had about 15 AOL accounts being charged to my credit card.

Damn credit card company didn't do a thing to the tire shop, even though I told them that was the only place I ever used in person.
