Through BestBuy.com only, although you can select local pickup. Shipping is currently FREE.

Preorder Halo3 at regular price (ie. $60), buy 1600 pts for $4.99 (regularly $20).

Not too many deals on Halo3 (due out Sept. 25th), so this is pretty decent.

Does anyone know if Best Buy charges right away for a preorder (full amount) or when it ships or arrives at the store? Also is the 1600 point card shipped/ready when the game is released or before?

When I ordered my Warcraft TBC from Best Buy.com they didn't charge until it shipped. That was back in Jan.

They did not charge my card for Halo 3 yet, and the 1600 point card was ready for pickup later that day, or early the next. My experience in DFW, FWIW.

Thanks, got in on this. Don't know if this will let me pickup my copy at midnight that night, or if I have to wait or what. :( All I know is September 26th, I'm taking a day off or calling in sick. :)

Hows this work? i can't seem to get the pre order to store pick up. Or does this ship out a few days before release so you get it when it comes out?

I fully expect the game to flip to Backorder on release day. That's what they did to me with Oblivion. I'll just buy one at the store and return the BB.COM one when it arrives.

A 1600 pt card is a Microsoft gift card, or credit for your Xbox Live account. You add the points to your XBox live account and can use them to buy downloaded games, music, moives, etc. To make it a little more confusing the the consumer they set the price of a 1600 point card at $20.00. So if you buy something for 400 points, it really cost you $5.00. Of course, if you plan to pickup H3 at launch, then this is a really good deal. Rarely do you see these cards on sale as they are essentially $20 gift cards.

heh..I just got back my repair fee refund check from MS (since I paid for repair when MS changed their policy) so I used the refund moolah to do this preorder deal. Picked up the MS points card and now thinking about which xbla games to buy. Maybe Puzzle Fighter..I dunno. Good deal for those who pick up lots of live arcade games and of course plans on buying Halo 3 (free shipping too so thats good).

IBUYCHEAP thank you for telling me this. Unfortunately I didn't see your post, and I got scammed. I am done with best buy. They canceled my points, and charged me. Now I will waste more than an hour getting 15$. I'm done with best buy. I have to save more than 25$ to make best buy worth it, in my opinion, because you know your going to be spending some time on the phone with them. They also gave me a wired controller instead of a wireless one when I ordered and xbox 360 online (with a controller). I didn't look closely, but its their freaken job to hand me a 360 and wireless controller how hard is that?
