Ok, so I'm new to the whole HD game. I just bought myself a LCD HDTV 47". I have a cable box with HDMI. The TV is 1080p but it is my understanding that currently HD TV is only in 1080i. Will I notice an difference between the 6' $5 HDMI cable from monoprice that's 28gauge and the HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified CL2 Rated Cable (24AWG - 6ft). I don't mind paying $15 for the category 2 certified cable if it will make a difference.

Also, my DVD player is composite and component only. Again I"m going 6' with it, would the "premium" for #12.50 be better than the one for $4?

I don't mind spending the money if need, seeing how I"m bringing $108 worth of monster cables back to Best Buy...what a HUGE ripoff.

If for just 6 foot lengths then get the cheapest available, maybe a little more beefier for the component cables as they are analog.

What kind of cable do you have to hook up your cable box to your receiver?

HDMI will make 0 difference. Component likely won't either, but at least there's a theoretically chance there.

The CL2 rating is for in-wall cable installations. If you aren't running cable through the wall, then don't pay the money for it.

I'm not sure what the HDMI 1.3a compliance does, but the basic HDMI 1.3 spec offers the Deep Color feature. So, purchase HDMI 1.3 certified cables if you have or think you'll purchase Deep Color capable equipment.

I thought we covered this in your other threads.

6', 28AWG, HDMI cable

6', 28AWG, HDMI 1.3 cable

The "premium" will be really, really thick, and in a short length will be hellish to bend between two components sitting on top of each other...

Thanks guys. I just went for the $5 HDMI and the $5 1.3a just to see if I notice anything. I also bought the premium component and the standard component to see if I notice a difference. I didn't think about the fact that the thicker HDMI cable could be hard to bend in a small area and could put undo stress on the HDMI connection. I hear the HDMI connectors are weak as it is so I don't want to stress them.
