Well it's not like you have a lot of time out there in the field.

Premature catalyst failure is one cause.

You do realize what octane means right and that if you aren't burning the complete fuel deposit that that is bad mojo.
You do realize that I asked you to qualify what you meant by "bad." Running a high strung turbocharged engine without a knock sensor / corresponding stuff on 87? That's bad. Running your Civic on leaded race fuel? That's bad too. One will cause catastrophic engine failure. The other is irrelevant because we're not talking about leaded fuel. 😉

OP has 87, 89, and 93 available. Acura says:
Octane - RL, TL, TSX V-6, ZDX, MDX, RDX

Using gasoline with an octane lower than 91 octane may cause damage to the engine. Please consult the owner's manual for details.
Nothing about higher octane causing damage.

If you find something showing engine damage from running 91/93 on a car designed for 87, I'd like to see it as well.

We are talking about two points of octane in unleaded pump gas in a modern vehicle with a powerful modern ignition system.

Not running C16 in a hoopty.

:awe:

Yeah well, detonator drivers have always been better than catalyst drivers. Hey wait a minute...😵

You originally posted about ring lands and detonation...it that is the case you need more octane or a better tune.

I sort of chuckle and those in a ghetto ride and then insisting they have to run premium fuel. Not saying that's what you are doing since you are FI. Running FI usually demands at least premium fuel.
