Premiere Pro ? about DRAFT QUALITY and hardware

I've been toying around with PP and starting to get a little bit comfortable with just the beginning basics. One thing I noticed is that my playback of the source file will run smoother on draft quality. Obviously something in my machine is not up for the task. My system: Q9650, UD3R Gigabyte, 4870 gaming card, 4gb, ultra 320 15k SCSI drive. My question is what is it?

Also, where did my timeline go? link

With a lot of editors, especially with HD and non-rendered effects, 'Draft' allows playback without bogging the CPU. My editor (Avid Liquid) uses the GPU and CPU, but I can still only playback about 4-5 lines at 24+fps rendered and start really framing when non-rendered effects are in the line (I only have a ATI 1950 as it was the max DX9 card and fastest supported at the time).

I think PP allows multiple source and render drives, so a multi-drive system can improve playback considerably.

As for your timeline, sorry, no idea. Have not used PP since version 6.5. That was almost 8 years ago.

you basically undocked the timeline frame. just go to window, workspace and reset the current workspace. but if you undock the timeline frame that'll happen if you redock it to another window then undock the frame again.
