hey everyone! My mom just bought an HP preloaded with XP home. I am running 98SE and I have the desktop sharing software that comes preloaded on XP. However.. when I go into her system and sharing, I can check the box that allows her to control other PCs if she needs to (god help us all... ;) ) but underneath, where the box should be to allow people control of her system (which I will use to save me the 30 mile drive after her next adventure with "Weather Bug" or some other poorly written program... :| ) it is just empty window space. How do i make it so I can check that option in XP home? I notice she is missinga couple of things a normal XP system should have. Any ideas?

in case I wasn't clear, its step 2 on this tutorial:

Hi,

Remote Desktop is only available with XP Pro. You have XP home. I guess the missing features you mention are XP Pro only too. I also notice the link you give is for XP Pro also.

Cheers,

Andy

After a lot of research.. I mstarting to believbe you are correct. :( It just seems to me like such a waste to at least not make it a feature you can sintall off of add/remove programs>windows components. :(

Hi,

No need to research - I know I'm correct!

Product Comparison

The reason it's not an optional install is that they can charge you the upgrade price for the privilage of such things as:

Remote Desktop
Dual Processor Capability
Domain membership
etc.......

It may be worth getting an upgrade.

Good luck,

Andy

Well, thank you for your time anyway! After re-reading my last post, I must apologize for the typos. I was in a hurry and I didn't want you to think I'm a moron. :)
