The BCS ratings won't be release for 3 more weeks, but both polls (Harris and Coaches) and 4 of the 6 computers are released. With that data, here are the top 14 rankings (IE those teams eligible for at-large BCS bowl bids).

1 Ohio State 4-0
2 Southern California 3-0
3 Auburn 4-0
4 Michigan 4-0
5 Florida 4-0
6 Louisville 4-0
7 West Virginia 4-0
8 Oregon 3-0
9 Texas 3-1
10 Georgia 4-0
11 Notre Dame 3-1
12 Iowa 4-0
13 Virginia Tech 4-0
14 LSU 3-1

I usually think Michigan is overrated, but they are definitely deserving of their spot in these prelim rankings.

TCU would be 15th right now. If they finish undefeated, they'll definetly make it up to 12th and be guaranteed a spot in a BCS game. Even with 1 loss, they would likely make that magic number.

The Rose Bowl is contractually bound to take the first non BCS conference team that qualifies.

No wins/losses for WV in your post? I can't see why the humans vote them so high. The computer average that you posted puts them at #13. My program puts them at #24. Any insight that you have into the minds of the human voters? I mean were beating 1-3 Marshall, 1-3 E. Washingtong, or 1-3 E. Carolina that great of wins to propel WV that high? Maybe their next game with 1-3 Miss St. will shed some light on the issue.

Well, the missing record was an oversight on my part. I can't slip anything past you :p

I think there are two factors that help WVU in the polls.

First, they have a really easy schedule and if they end up with more then 1 loss it would be a huge disappointment. Every voter wants to be the one who has them in the top 5 at both the beginning and the end of the season. That helps explain why so many people picked them #1 preseason as well.

Second, the polls judge on how good a team is, not just on W/L results of games. WVU is a lot better then they've been able to prove with their schedule. In you're rankings, I'd hypothesize that they're hurt by the MOV cap in the Marshall and E Washington games, and so a mediocre performance against E Carolina really hurts them.
