I feel bad for the baby that his/her health is ruined the moment he/she steps on Earth 🙁
i wouldn't call a baby who is born to a mother who smokes as healthy as one who isn't exposed to those toxins during development.Originally posted by: Linflas
Healthy babies were born in the 1930s, 40s, 50s etc with mothers smoking. All things equal it would obviously be better for both the mother and the baby if the mother did not smoke but it is not something I waste any time thinking about when I see it.

Personally, given what we now know about the results of smoking, I think it's sad to see *anybody* do it.

That would be why I included the bolded part in original post.

I think it's horribly sad. A friend of mine was smoking up until the day she had her baby... now the child is healthy(i.e. not a low birth weight, etc) but i will be interested to see what happens as the child grows up.
I have found, just by my own family, that children who were born by mothers that smoked had more sickness as children.

I don't know if smoking while pregnant causes that, but it's been borne out by research that kids living with parents that smoke are more prone to be sick. The whole 2nd hand smoke bit.
