"Prefs.js" Netscape file - Need a Little Help Here

For some unknown reason, my Netscape file "prefs.js" was corroded. Every time I close down and recall Netscape I have to reset all of my preferences again including my start page and mail prefs. The file's there, but it won't save anything.

Has anyone else had this problem and been able to rectify it?

I tried reinstalling Communicator, but it just took all of my old prefs and didn't resolve the problem. I'd like to not have to start from scratch here.

Might sound a little paranoid but, try scannin for viruses?

I'd rename the whole folder then reinstall it.
Copy back your mail and bookmark files.

Thanks guys. I did scan the file already and nothing came up, so I have to believe it's a glitch in Netscape. I'm still in the process of searching Netscape for information on this one, and I've just found some information on it that I have to weed through.

I'll try renaming it, but I have to find an original CD of it somewhere.
