Feet shoulder width apart. Pistol held with both hands straight out from the chest.

Or

Left foot in front of right with left shoulder pointed towards target. Right arm held straight while left arm is slightly bent. Both hands holding pistol.

I don't really have a preference. I shoot squared, one foot forward, kneeling, prone, one handed, off handed, whatever. I hate bench shooting though with a pistol (or rifle for that matter).

Because I'm right handed, but left eye dominant I have to use modified stances. I tend to favor 3/4 - full left forward, nearly straight right arm, chin across the side of my right bicep so that I'm sighting correctly.

It drives range masters nuts, but it works for my situation.

It's very close to the Chapman illustrated here. The differences are that I'm turned further and my head crosses my arm in order to bring my left eye in line.

Knees bent, ass out, leaning forward. Both thumbs forward, left hand gripping frame, right hand for trigger work.

I prefer the "Eyes Closed" stance.
I like to practice shooting at invisible objects.

Right foot forward, leaning forward a little bit, gun held high and sideways but pointing down. ;)

I'm usually sliding down a railing in a big mansion, with a pistol in each hand, getting headshots on the hundreds of bad guys who are trying to shoot me with Uzis.

Do you hold your pistols sideways too when doing that?
