I'm using VPN.AC and when I make a connection to the VPN my DNS in the network adapter changes to 8.8.8.8 all the time. When I disconnect, the DNS goes back to normal. Apparently VPN.AC uses it's own DNS server in the 10.x.x.x range, but that never shows up. I have issues connecting to Amazon with VPN.AC and I created a ticket to support and I told them about the 8.8.8.8 thing, but never got a response back. about that.
I use Bitdefender Free and scan the computer periodically with Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, ADwcleaner, Junkware Removal Tool and some ant-government stuff. There isn't any malware. I will scan with Herdprotect, but I don't think it's necessary.
I even checked the registry for 8.8.8.8 and couldn't find anything, although if it's there I'm willing to bet it's encoded. Is that hex? I tried hex, but I may not have done it right.
Where on earth would the DNS come from? I have the Tap Windows adapter v9, but that doesn't have Google's DNS at all. That was the first thing support told me to check.
I can usually fix any computer problem, but this one has me stumped.
Edit- I've reset the TCP/IP stack. No change.
