I've been using Utorrent for some time now but more and more it seems to be flaking out on me.

Is there something out there that's better and won't bog down my system?

I've always used Azureus (except when torrents *first* came out and they had those little grey boxes) so that is what I've stuck with. It works fine for me so I have had no reason to switch to anything different, although I have no idea if something completely better is out there.

Im using the default Transmission from Ubuntu. don't have any problems with it. While a bit simple, it gets the job done.

I used to like Azureus, but then they put in all the Vuze crap.

µTorrent, a new version was released not so long ago. Plus do you follow their connection guidelines?

Btw, flaking out in what way ?

You can tell Vuze to use the "classic" view, which looks just like Azureus used to. That's what I do.

Definitely uTorrent. Bset one out there.

Although as long as they work, they all accomplish the same thing.

I used to use ABC which I liked but then I found uTorrent and never looked back.

I constantly get the "red arrows" randomly and it's all of my torrents at the same time.

Never used to happen.

Might try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Azureus, have issues with µTorrent downloading corrupt chunks and not finding them during the final checksum.

A java based client such as Azureus/Vuze does not make much sense for Windows. BitComet is good but if the additional features are not really desired and/or if leeching is your thing than uTorrent is better (i.e. lax transfer rate ratio).
