If by batch you mean stepping, then the E0 Stepping are better than the older C1 stepping. ~3.6GHz OC versus ~3.8GHz OC.

The new Q9550 I ended up getting: FPO/BATCH # L847 C 293 .... I didn't even know they came in Vitamin "C" flavor

EDIT: nice rig btw :)

i have an E/S of Q9550S which clocks OK to 4.0GHz without a lot of extra voltage

i am wondering, now that Intel is picking the "S" spec - probably from the center of the die and charging a $100 premium for it - how well do the new "Non S" spec (regular) Q9550 overclock.

They used to regularly hit 3.8 to 4.0 GHz - the ES was not better, but Intel might now be picking the best for their "S" Q9550 now
- anyone know?

i know it is time for me to upgrade anyway .. core i5 or i7..
.. to be or not to be .. what was the question?
