Prediction: who controls the federal government has very little to do with stock market performance.

That would be true except for this President who purposefully tweets and makes announcements to manipulate specific stocks and the market as a whole.

The US President is very powerful and CAN in fact affect the markets. In the past, US presidents had the sense not to do this but since Trump is a total moron completely unbound by social norms or responsibilities, he does what he wants. If he wants to tweet about "breaking up Amazon" he does and it sends the stock down 4% that day. Did one of his advisors tell him to do that after shorting the stock? Nobody knows.

Acting like a President can't have an affect on the market merely because previous presidents tried their best not to is ignorant and wrong.

Well the Democrats have an ~85% chance of retaking the house so by all means invest accordingly. Other people will take your money.

Some perspective:

Since 1946, there have been 18 midterm elections. Stocks were higher 12 months after every single one. Every single one. That’s 18 for 18. Even though we’ve had every possible political combination in the past 72 years. Republican president with Democratic Congress. Democratic president with Republican Congress. Republican president and Congress. Democratic president and Congress.

You predicted the Democrats would lose the house literally like two hours before they won it. Lol.

You gotta make a lot of predictions if you want to be right sometimes. Can't be right all the time.

I blame FiveThirtyEight

Dow down 600 points, wiping out all gains again (even those after the dems won). SMH at the OP.....lol.

Tariffs, tax cuts top heavy with no flow (trickle) to the bottom, rising dollar, rising interest rates.....markets just seem to want to go down (or crash). Time will tell I suppose.

Edit: OP is a legend in his own mind, after reading last few posts, buwhahahaha!

Meanwhile Trump blamed the democrats for today’s drop. Apparently them looking into him will ruin the economy. Someone tell him it went up 500 points the day after the election when it was clear the democrats would take the house.

You can blame the tech sector and the dollar for today.
