Steam games are cheap because they sell a lot of old games. New releases are always full price. Is there any reason to believe that Microsoft wouldn't sell cross platform old games for the same price as Steam? Green Man sells old cross platform games just as cheap as steam, why wouldn't Microsoft do the same? There's a lot of bad publicity working against Microsoft's DRM right now but it'll pass and people will realize that they really don't care, just like they don't care that Steam games can't be resold.

When Best Buy and other stores put up the One and PS4 up for display, the One will have a bigger crowd around the machine simply because people will be dancing and using voice commands to play while the PS4 will have people holding controllers. The Xbox One will practically sell itself to the mainstream market just by displaying what it can do.

This argument is weak because nobody I know wants to dance in front of their TV. We want to play games using regular controllers, on the best hardware for the best price.

I'm referring to the part about new games. They are sold cheaper than their console counterparts a majority of the time at time of the release. They also go on steeper sales much more often and sooner than their console counterparts. Why? Competition from OTHER sales places.

If you think all you can buy is old games for cheap on Steam or new ones for high prices, that is what he means. You can routinely get new games a month or two after release for half off. Wait a few more months you can get then for $5-$10.

Steam also has competition with other digital platforms. Once you are in the X1 ecosystem, yeah good luck.

They have games on demand and the pricing is horrible. Games that are almost 7 years old like the original gears of war is still 29.99. Many games that are over a year old are still full MSRP. Both MS and Sony have failed at online store pricing. Nothing will change this up coming generation for both stores.

Well I will correct how I worded it though, I don't mean Steam has them on sale, but other places do (and then you can either activate them on steam or not depending). My main point is competition. Who knows, maybe with the backlash, there WILL be competition with more games being multiplatform in the next gen.

But a great example is Bioshock Infinite. I paid $30 for it the day it came out and got 2 other games with it (Xcom and some other thing). This happens more often than you might think, through other means like Amazon, GMG, Gamestop, etc.

Microsoft is also making sure that 19 MILLION Americans can't even use the XBone due to its 24-hour "dial in" crap. Believe it or not, some places in America don't have broadband. My hometown just got partial broadband access in 2012. Think about it, surely one or two of those 19 million Americans are going to score a PS4 over the useless-to-them XBone.

Former XBOX stronghold here going PS4, even my kids are with me on it. And my kids' friends are shunning the new XBOX as well, they're all going PS4 ... no shit.

He was speaking about MS in that example to price with the Gears reference. Sony holds sales on their side quite regularly, though I honestly don't pay attention to full retail games on there for a few reasons, mainly because I can buy a disc version, I use PSN for indie/small games, and I am a subscriber to PS+ so I get quite a few games for free through that. The last sale on the PSN I remember was for a lot of full games though, they had prices between 33-50% off (50-66% off if you were a PS+ member).

Steam and its competitors (that sell games that you can activate and own on Steam) do lots of heavy discounts very quickly on games. It is one of the reason it has become so popular. I have a very large Steam library because of it. This is my account.

People still buy 500$ ipads even though there are cheaper options don't they? When I look at side by side pictures of the PS4 and XboX One, I see two completely different machines. One machine just plays games and the other one is the central media hub of the living room that can connect to my tablet and smartphone.




Non-gaming functionality is exactly the reason why the XboX One is not in the same market space as the PS4. Voice commands and grab to Zoom are functions of a tablet or smartphone. A more likely competitor would be the Ipad. The XboX One also has motion and the ability to connect to smart devices, so that really pits the XboX One in a unique and technically advance category of it's own. The Wii, Ipad, Iphone, and Samsung phones have all used this strategy and it worked out well for them. As long as Microsoft can continue to advertise motion and voice commands of the XboX One, I see success in their future.

Best Buy won't even be showcasing dance games for one thing. Those do NOTHING to sell the system and it's games. Showing you how good the next Battlefield title looks, does.

Cause parents would look at it and say...we have a Wii already, you have a dance game on that. Or hey...you can get Kinect on a Xbox 360 and it's only $300.

1. A DDoS attack on the scale it would require to shut down Azure (which is what MS is using for Live as well) is unthinkable. Azure does not go down. That is MS's business model. A DDoS can't take down Google either. You're better off worrying about the NSA tracking your game play.

2. Please site source for Armed Forces being banned from the Xbox One. I have a ton of friends currently in the military, and if someone had been said, I'd have seen it posted on Facebook. Again, source or you're full of BS. MS already said they were working on a solution for deployed troops.

3. I can't see the image due to it being blocked by my work, so I can only assume it is more silliness.

4. The Kinect doesn't sit always on, always watching and your system can be completely turned off. They demo'd a low power mode feature to show off something cool and novel, which consumers love.

EDIT: I should say, I think the PS4 will "win" this generation, but not by a large margin. Early adoption the PS4 might surge, but I see them becoming fairly equal after awhile. I think MS will have bigger blockbuster exclusive titles that generate enough sales to catch up to Sony's early lead this holiday season.

2)There's plenty of sources on this, and its just common sense. A basic reality of military life is that you could be deployed to many areas of the world or assigned to a base with poor or non-existent Internet access. No Xbox for you in that case.

3)Its an anti-DRM image listing all the flaws with the XB1.

4)Err, yes, actually it is always on. The 'off' mode only has it listening for 'Xbox On', but its still on and listening. Though, I suppose you could simply unplug your XB1 from power and hard down it that way. So long as you have Internet access when you power it back on so it can phone home.

My point was it was retarded to go 90% of the way IE allow you record and change channels but not include a cable card slot. It just seems retarded to waste the effort and fail miserably on that front.

Don't forget, Live was nearly down or partially down for a few weeks a few years ago around Christmas time. People weren't able to connect most the time and when they could it was laggy as can be and such. I don't remember what MS did, but they did something for compensation iirc. But they couldn't handle all the systems trying to go on live.
