I think Corpse Killer 'Graveyard edition" was my fav game on the Saturn. It was the first celebrity cameo in a game that I remember with Vincent Schiavelli (the biology teacher from Fast Times at Ridgemont High) playing the mad scientist.

i remember i purchased a sega cd and was so excited for mortal kombat on there because the early pictures were arcade perfect.

turned out the game was a straight port of the genesis version with arcade quality sound. and when shang tsung morphed the game paused for like 15 seconds.

needless to say i was heated that i bought that game.

The other thing was the control was better, some people called it arcade perfect in that way.

How close to arcade perfect is the mortal kombat versions that are available on ps3 and Xbox 360 as a trilogy from the online store? What about an emulator on PC?

I can't view the youtube, but the wiki page sounds like it might have been that one. It was almost identical to StarFox on the SNES if I remember correctly, and the first boss you fought as like a T-Rex or some shit.

the control on the sega cd was identical to the control on the genesis version. the literal only difference was the sound. the control on the genesis was much better than snes too.

i have mk2 on ps3 which they removed from the marketplace, no clue why, which is pretty much arcade perfect.

I don't think we got arcade perfect replicas on console until the Dreamcast, due to it being the NAOMI hardware in a box.

street fighter 2 turbo was probably the closest we got back in the 16 bit era. either that or mk2.

both on snes though, the genesis couldn't handle the sound or colors.

Yeah I have the mk trilogy on ps3. I thought I could still play it but I forget half the move list and can't time anything right anymore lol.

The only CD-based game I think I actually sat all the way through back then was Y's Book I and II. Still worth a shot if you love classic JPRGs, great music too! It's been re-released a number of times IIRC.

Lunar on Sega CD was awesome.

no, Thrill Kill was the best fighting game of all time that few got to play. God I loved that game.

if you are truly serious about it, then all opinions you have about fighters should be thrown out the window lol. that game was awful. it was cool to see how gross/gory it was but the game was downright terrible.

I remember I used to play a fighting game with a green goblin looking dude that had like wolverine hands... he had a move where he would throw the guy on the ground and spin on him with the claws.

I can't remember the game for the life of me... I thought it was Samurai Showdown but when I look I don't think that is the game.

Says the guy going nuts over Killer Instinct..... :\ but in it's defense, it wasn't finished either. There were a few versions of it around, and actually the less finished version was better than the further along version.

Seriously though, never been a huge fighting game fan, and I've played pretty much all of them over the years.

i don't even know what that is supposed to mean.

and yeah it's obvious you aren't a fighting game fan and don't know much about them, which is why i'm wondering why you keep giving your opinion on them.

it's like me telling exdeath how good/bad kingdom hearts 3 or ff137 is going to be, as if my opinion on rpgs even matters.

EDIT:

and i see your edit, and yes there was a "final" version of thrill kill, and i know because i had it back when i had over 1300 psx games, and it was awful.

And just for the record, I played fighters up to roughly MK3 Ultimate on SNES. Which means I covered MK1, 2, 3, SF and its variants, KI and etc. One of my big favorites was Tekken 3 and the volleyball mini game you could play. I played the crap out of that. The quoted above I only ever played on arcade.

I might just give KI a shot... I haven't played fighters since high school probably.
