What merits?

His economic plan is no different than Romney's. A bunch of 1+1+1 = 2 math that simply doesn't add up. Independent analysis on both Romney and Ryan's plans have denounced them as the utter crap that they are.

This will give the Dems all the ammunition they need to win in places like Florida with significantly larger older populations.

I actually agree with a lot of Ryan's ideas, and definitely appreciate his work toward finding a way to reduce the deficit. The problem is that he and others who are even more extreme have abused their positions to grind our government to a halt. If you want fiscal responsibility you don't stick your head in the sand, you convince the people that voted for you and those who voted for the other decision makers that it's the right thing to do. Otherwise you are just a roadbump that everyone has to go around or over.

He has three months to do that, and he won't have many friends to help him from across the aisle.

On an unrelated note, I do like how Mr. Ryan is not one of the choices in this poll.
