Precott Celeron D with weird temps???

I had this Prescott Celeron D 320 in a Soyo Dragon 2 and it showed about 53C on load. Now, with same exact setup only on a Abit IS7-E, its showing close to 70C on load. This is all at stock settings. Is the IS7 reporting bad temps, and if so, is there a bios update to fix it. Otherwise, I am planning on getting a Zalman 7000CU. Compared to stock, how much will this bring down the temps.

All motherboards will report different temps, you just have to get to know how the temp sensor on the mobo works.

That said, did you clean off the CPU/HSF and apply new thermal grease when you moved the CPU?

Yes i did. I realize all mobo's arent the same, but I didnt think they would be THAT far off.

Run prime95 on the new system to make sure its stable (if the temps are too high, prime will fail). Then you can be sure the temps are reasonable, prooving that the temp sensor on one of those boards (or both) is way off.

thats the thing. The system is hangning in games but is prime stable.

The best Overclocking Celeron is the CELEROn D 330J on non J.
The 330J is for 775 Platform Motherboards and the 330 non J is for mPGA Motherboards.
The celeron 330J is on 2.66 Ghz with A voltage of 1.33 Volts
to oveclock it to 4GHz you will need:

A motherboard like Abit AG8, DDR400 ram...or even better DDR 466 Ram and a cooler from Thermaltake like the Thermaltake Big Typhoon or Thermaltake Sonic Tower
You will need to overvoltage the Cpu at 1.47 Volts and set a DRAM ratio of Sugessted 1.1
if that doesnt work try 5.4
A litle overvotlege of the ram would hurt.....try to volt it at 2.6 or at your own risk 2.7
