Hello forumgoers, I've taken pictures of my old Socket 775 HSF and decided to do a simple guide, mostly precautions installing the HSF. The mechanism is identical for Socket 775/1156/1155.

Here's the first pic to familiarize yourselves with the mounting pin/mechanism/plastic screw. This is how the side of the pin should look after its installed. Notice the position of the white notch.

2nd pic, this time, right after its pulled out of the motherboard

The correct and incorrrect way the pin should be oriented before the HSF is installed

HSF comparisons, can anyone point out what's the HSF for i5-661 and i7-2600K? :)

Oh, no! Pushpins! Must avert my eyes.

I thought Intel included those in the retail box to give it some heft when you stick it on the shelf in the closet when the build is finished and the 3rd party cooler is installed - without the use of pushpins. There's another use for these leaf blower thingies?

It so sad people pay a premium for these cpu's and intel will not even provide their customers with 4 screws and a back bracket.
