Precautions for not blowing the fuse in my Z560s

I had always been under the impression that it's better to keep the windows volume control at not too high, about middle or so. I recently read a thread that said it's best to turn the volume up so the amp isn't working too hard. So which one is it? I'd actually like to turn the windows main volume up to full because for some reason my microphone is extremely quiet with this Game Theater XP.

I wasn't aware it made a difference, but I've always had my windows volume at the highest. Nothing has gone wrong for a year and 2 months.
